Single Moms

Unmarried mother generally have lower incomes, lower education levels, are more likely to be dependent on welfare assistance, and have reduced marriage prospects compared to single women without children.

The proportion of births to unmarried women has increased greatly in recent decades in the U.S., rising from five percent in 1960 to 41 percent in 2013. This trend shows that an increasing number of single moms and unwed mothers need care and support. The following table provides local contacts for helping single moms and unwed mothers.
